EDUCATION FOR ALL
SEEDO is the non-governmental organization based in Gilgit Baltistan, also working to provide quality education to the underprivileged children of GB. Our mission is to ensure “Every Child in School and Learning Well and specially focused on female education.” Every year, we reach many of children in different regions through a range of interventions. Our programs include a pre-school education mainstreaming out of school children, providing learning support to both in-school and out of school children, providing children with access to books, providing tuition fee, all educational needs to deserving students, research and analysis and protecting vulnerable children, among others. We aim to give children and young people the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values to help them interact effectively with the world and be contributing members and leaders of a pluralist society. Our team work together to promote a continuous ladder of lifelong learning.
Gilgit-Baltistan has three divisions, and one of its districts is Diamer, where female education is not more than 5%. There is a lack of awareness in the region, and the number of girls’ schools is nearly non-existent. Our aim is to work together with the government, local religious scholars, and civil society leaders to promote female education in the area. In Diamer, we want to raise awareness about female education, with the goal of bringing the female education ratio up to the level of other divisions in Gilgit-Baltistan
“There is no greater form of preparation for change than education … there is no better investment that the individual, parents and the nation can make than an investment in education of the highest possible quality.”
Our main focus is to promote female education in Diamer, a district where female literacy remains critically low. Since 2022, we have been working closely with the Education Department of Gilgit-Baltistan, religious leaders of Diamer, and civil society organizations to offer free educational consultancy services, aiming to raise awareness and encourage the community to support and prioritize girls’ education.
